IKEA is hiring for $100K maintenance job at its warehouse in California
IKEAS has hired a new person to oversee its warehouse maintenance operations, the company said in a statement late Tuesday.
The hiring comes after months of turmoil at the California IKEAH warehouse, where employees were on the verge of losing their jobs in the wake of an explosion at the store in May that left one person dead and more than 100 injured.
The job will be based in Santa Cruz, California, IKEAC said in the statement.
The company also has hired five other people to work on the warehouse maintenance and support functions.
The company has faced mounting criticism over its handling of the warehouse fire, which led to the death of a store employee and the destruction of the store’s supply chain.
The incident sparked months of protests, and IKEASHOP, the union representing workers at the warehouse, filed a grievance earlier this year with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
